The spinning reel is the most popular types of fishing reels available today. The spinning reel is used for fishing many different types of fish and by all types of anglers. But you may be wondering; What is the best spinning reel fishing line? We recently covered the 3 different types of fishing line as well as the pros and cons of each. As we detailed in that article, braided line was the overall favorite. Know that, we will focus in on which is the best braided line for a spinning reel.
There are 2 main contenders and you really can not go wrong with either one. But we will dig into them each in detail and let you know what we believe is the best spinning reel fishing line.
Berkley Fireline Crystal
This line has a very thin diameter and zero memory. Also, it is extremely abrasion resistant and three times stronger than monofilament. These are just a few reasons whey we feel it is one of the best spinning reel fishing lines. Berkley specifically designed this line for spinning reels and it shows. This line has a very smooth quality to it. This will allow you to cast further (17% further according to Berkley) than other fishing lines. This version (Fireline Crystal) also ultra low-vis. This means that it will be less visible to fish than many braided lines in the market. Check Amazon for it’s latest prices and stellar reviews!
Sufix 832
The second line that is commonly recognized as the best spinning reel fishing line is the Sufix 832. This braided line is made up of 7 Dyneema fibers and a GORE performance fiber. This line has proven to not flatten out as fast as typical braided lines can. The Sufix 832 has an amazing abrasion resistant quality and will perform better than any other line along rocks. Check out the images below for a detailed look at the abrasion after 1000 cycles. Like the Berkley, this line is also super thin and very smooth. And the best spinning reel fishing line is…
Well, as you can tell these 2 fishing lines both have a lot of the same qualities. They are also both highly recommended by all types of anglers. This makes it extremely difficult to pick one over the other. However, that was the purpose of this post… Overall, we prefer the Sufix 832. The partnership with GORE technology gives it the edge. GORE has many years of expertise in advanced materials used extensively by the US military and NASA. How can you go wrong with technology that is also used by NASA??
